I will admit this game took a couple of tries for me to finally get into the game and finish it. I'm very glad I did though! It's quite a unique tactical game. What if WWII was anime? Now you don't have to wonder.

While the gameplay is satisfying, it's really the story that hooks you in. It'll tug on your heartstrings and doesn't shy away from the brutality of war.

There are things that hold this game back for me. One is that the way the game rewards you for quickly completing a mission feels antithetical to a tactical game like this. You can give orders to buff a scout like Alicia (who is Gallia's MVP) to basically solo the map.

Also the game can feel really gimmicky that will blindside you with new enemies or threats that you could haven't predicted unless you played through the map before. Turning it into less of an adapting to an evolving situation to trial and error.

I will admit I watched many guides on certain missions as some can be incredibly frustrating if you don't do it in the right way. Despite my complaints, the story and characters kept me wanting to come back. It's definitely worth playing. Can't wait to try more of the series!

Pacing of this game is the equivalent of watching snails ♥♥♥♥. On top of being a really twee, generic anime.
